In the Bleak Midwinter, Piano Solo Arrangement for Intermediate
In the Bleak Midwinter
This beautiful tune by Gustav Holst is one of my favorites! In this arrangement, I tried to capture this scenario: Imagine you are sitting by the fire with your hot drink of choice, and looking out the window onto a snowy wonderland. The fire is so cozy and warm, but as you look out the window, a slight chill comes over you (m. 15-16). But as you take another sip, your eyes gaze at the fire, and all is well….
This arrangement is exquisite! Very expressive. Suitable for recital, church services and pure enjoyment!
Key: F Major
Time signature: 4/4. BPM = 92
Skill development: Left hand pattern as taught in my Method Book - 20 Favorite Christmas Songs: How to Play Lead Sheets. Study this arrangement to see how many other patterns I use, as well as: identify the chord symbols, what other chord tones are included? And how embellishment sections add to the effect of Wintery feel of this piece. Expressive, Lyrical playing. Left hand technique.
Level: Intermediate to Advanced.
How long: 43 measures. 2 Pages. 2 minutes performance time.
This is a Single License: One purchase - One copy. Thank for honoring the composer’s work by not sharing with anyone. Encourage them to purchase their own copy please!
