Joy to the World, Late Elementary, Inspired by my Lead Sheet Method Book

$4.00

Joy to the World!

You’ll love this fun arrangement - its suitable for recitals and pure enjoyment!

This arrangement is inspired by my Method Book - 20 Favorite Christmas Songs: How to Play Lead Sheets.

This one has that “pop” sound that everyone loves to play. What gives it that sound? The crisp, repeated quarter notes in Left hand - LOVE that sound? Take the LH part and try to make up a new melody. New chord that adds to this sound: Csus4. Suspended 4 chords give a contemporary sound - use this one instead of V7 chords (G7, in this case).

Bonus - Practice moving Left hand between chords. Can you do this smoothly and quickly? This is a great skill to know.

Teaching Suggestion: What other patterns might work well with this melody? Maybe start with whole notes or half notes, or broken triads! Encourage your student to brainstorm possibilities.

Key: C Major

Time signature: 4/4. BPM = 164

Skill development: Left hand pattern as taught in my Method Book - 20 Favorite Christmas Songs: How to Play Lead Sheets. Study this arrangement to see how many other patterns I use, as well as: identify the chord symbols, what other chord tones are included? Find the chord symbol. Identify what notes are in the C, Csus4, and G7 chords. Steady beat - repeated quarters. Switching back & forth smoothly & quickly between chords. Reading easy notation. Practice moving Right hand to different Octaves for variety.

Level: Late Elementary, Teen/Adult Beginners

How long: 34 measures - Too short? 2 Pages. 1:00 minute performance time.

This is a Single License: One purchase - One copy. Thank for honoring the composer’s work by not sharing with anyone. Encourage them to purchase their own copy please!
