Summer Vibes. A Collection of 5 Happy Pieces for Early Intermediate to Intermediate: Studio License
Summer Vibes for Early Intermediate to Intermediate:
This Collection is more sophisticated for Tweens & Teens, ready to feel some cool vibes on a Road Trip! All the pieces have a definite Pop music feel, but are written in a way that makes them easy to teach.
Hangin’ with Friends: Here’s a piece that’s really chill. It has that Motown style with accented notes to give it a syncopated feel. Grab a friend and have them snap on beat “3” of every measure for a cool accompaniment. OR come up with some more cool body percussion patterns while you’re Hangin’ with Friends! Skill development: F Major. 4/4 time but feel it in “2”. Simple Left Hand makes it easy to focus on the style of the Right Hand melody.
Picnic at the Park: Here’s a fun chord study that has that 1970’s Rock sound. Notice the repetitive syncopation in the Right hand melody. It’s Free & Easy - just like a Picnic in the Park. Skill development: G Major. 4/4 time. 4 on the Floor Left hand bass. Syncopated Right hand melody. Lyrical melody vs. Left hand staccatos.
Ray of Sunshine: Here’s one that definitely brings the Sunshine! Students will love playing this catching melody with another nod to the Motown sound. Make sure to do the finger snaps at the beginning, but grab a friend for some more percussion parts -this piece is just begging for more cowbell!! Maybe you can get folks dancing too? BTW, Do you like to Improvise? Feel free to add your own licks or melody in the middle section - repeat as long as you want to play! Skill development: C Major. 4/4 time. Groovy Left Hand bass line. Also, 4 on the Floor Left hand bass. Catchy Right Hand melody that makes people want to dance!
Stars of Wonder: Take a moment to stop and Wonder - The night sky is full of stars. Do you hear them shining? And look! There’s one that shines especially bright! Do you hear it in m. 4? And again in m. 12? This beautiful ballad has a 1980’s George Winston feel to it. Make sure to use lots of pedal to create that magical effect. Skill development: G Major. 4/4 time. Lyrical playing. Listening skills to get the pedal changes just right. G Major Scales in the Right Hand melody.
