Sunday Drive
Where Clouds in the Sky was thoughtful and inquisitive, Sunday Drive doesn’t have a care in the world.

Do people go for Sunday Drives anymore? It used to be a time to relax with family or maybe an escape from your troubles. Let’s take off to the open road and let the wind blow in your hair. Can you convey these feelings to your audience?

In this piece, I used the Octave as an accompaniment figure, setting up that “happy go lucky” sound you hear in pop music so often. The use of syncopation in the melody further gives it that pop feel. Don’t forget to use the pedal to help sustain the harmonies in the leaps in the Left hand. BTW, did you notice the Key Signature? Have you figured out what key it’s in? I’ll give you a hint: it’s C Mixolydian (a Major scale with a flat 7).

This piece is short and sweet, with the same melody in each hand, but we don’t mind! We are too busy having fun!

Key: C Mixolydian.

Time signature: 4/4 , BPM = 144.

Skill development:  Reaching for Octaves by jumping or extension. Syncopated rhythms. Pop Music style playing. Left hand accompaniment figures. Scale like passages. Dynamics. Note reading.

What level:  Early Intermediate.

How long: Cover + 2 pages music. Performance time 1:00.

This is a STUDIO LICENSE: One purchase - One person is allowed multiple copies for students in their Studio. Thank you for honoring the creativity and work of the composer.
