The First Noel, Late Elementary, Inspired by my Lead Sheet Method Book
The First Noel
Short & Sweet! Folks love to sing along with this one, so if you need to, feel free to repeat from the beginning. Use the last 4 measures as an optional Introduction or transition between repeats.
This arrangement is inspired by my Method Book - 20 Favorite Christmas Songs: How to Play Lead Sheets.
We see broken triads in music all the time. If you can identify what chords they are before you play, your understanding will make it much easier to learn new music! In this arrangement, the Left hand is a mixture of bass line and in m. 14 - it’s part of the important harmony line. Add the pedal to make the hand movement sound more smooth.
Bonus - Right hand melody line gives extra practice playing the C Major scale.
Teaching Suggestion: Broken TriadsWhat other patterns might work well with this melody? Maybe start with dotted half notes …… Encourage your student to brainstorm possibilities.
