The Firekeepers’ Quest, Duet

The Firekeeper’s Quest is an extended, cinematic piano duet that brings together three connected musical scenes into one cohesive journey. This duet combines The Winding Way, Echoes in the Stone, and Legacy of the Firekeepers into a single performance experience—allowing students to move through contrasting moods of mystery, reflection, and triumph while developing ensemble confidence and musical storytelling.

Each section flows naturally into the next, giving both Primo and Secondo meaningful roles throughout. Whether performed as a complete quest or rehearsed in sections, this duet offers flexibility for teaching and a powerful sense of narrative for performance.

This piece was commissioned by the Central Texas MTA for their performance at the 2026 TMTA Convention.
