Bailar al Sol, "Dance in the Sun" Intermediate Solo

$6.00

Bailar al Sol, or “Dance in the Sun”, is inspired by a style of music called, “Ranchera Valseada”. “Ranchera” or “Canción Ranchera” is a genre of traditional music from Mexico. “Valseada” is the Spanish word for Waltz.

Mexico’s cultural influence is strong in the state of Texas - we love to hear this type of music played by the Mariachi bands: with their unique instruments like the Guitarrón (big bass guitars) , Vihuela (5 string) Guitars, Violins, Trumpets, and Singers, as they accompany the beautiful Folklórico Dancers.

Written in the key of F Major, in a fast 3/4 Time Signature (with a feel of “One”), and in a “A-B-C-A-Coda” form. The “A” section features a traditional Spanish type melody with iconic 6ths and triplet turns that make you feel like a twirling dancer. The Left Hand accompaniment leaps along in a Latin style Bass line and mimics the plucked Bass guitar. The “B” section offers an abrupt change to an A Major Key center, adding some drama! The “C” section takes off with a beautiful ascending scale-like, lyric melody that leads us to the climax of the piece in measure 59 - 66. This sequenced figure builds and rushes ahead, until we finally find our way back to the “A” section in measure 67.

Time length. (01:45). Piano Solo for Early Intermediate to Intermediate Pianists. Perfect for Recitals. Latin. Waltz. (4 Pages)
