Join Stegosaurus on a musical journey through four different landscapes in Stegosaurus: Ancient Wanderer, an imaginative Elementary–Late Elementary piano solo that follows a gentle giant as he wanders across the prehistoric world. As the melody travels through changing hand positions, students experience the feeling of exploring new musical territories while building confidence moving around the keyboard.

As students follow Stegosaurus from one musical land to the next, they experience a gentle introduction to modes, hand-position movement, and improvisation—wrapped inside a dinosaur adventure. The changing tonal colors create the feeling of exploring new territory while helping students develop keyboard geography and confidence moving between hand positions. A guided improvisation section invites students to create their own wandering path using a Dorian sound, transforming the piece into both a performance experience and a creative musical exploration.

The adventure continues beyond the music with included Explorer Training & Discovery pages. Students map Stegosaurus’s journey through different musical lands, identify changing hand positions, experiment with Dorian improvisation, create original melodies, and discover fascinating facts about one of the most recognizable dinosaurs of the prehistoric world.

• Invite students to repeat their improvised melody and change one element—starting note, ending note, rhythm, or dynamics—to experience simple musical variation.
• Before performing, ask students to identify where the journey begins, where it changes direction, and where it finally arrives home.
